Jefferson Operation and Support Services Facility
2017/2019
Passa Architects were hired by the City of Windsor to provide a new Collision Reporting Centre along with various Windsor Police Operational and Support Facilities to the existing Precinct and CRC on Jefferson Road in the City of Windsor. The 13,000 square foot existing building included an abandoned Gun Range that was recessed 4 feet into the ground. The building required an entire new internal renovation plan with added new buildings for vehicle inspections in the front and vehicle storage in the rear. The services for the Collision Report Centre were brought to a new location at a corner of the building where partial demolition was required to provide a new pedestrian entry and large canopy to allow damaged vehicles to both be seen from the inside offices as well as be easily accessible for staff to view during inclement weather. The public washrooms were altered to provide a Universal accessible washroom adjacent an enlarged Lobby for community use. Other areas for the Police Services were renovated into Police Report Writing, Lunchroom, Male and Female Locker Rooms, Decontamination Rooms with direct access to the exterior for Officers requiring immediate attention, File Storage Rooms and a 911 Back Up Room requiring a new large computer Server Room. There are remaining areas for a Meeting Room and Future Use rooms to be determined. The Site required to be fenced and controlled with an automatic sliding gate as well as hinged gates for security. External areas for both public and police use were determine and separated as necessary to allow the building to function from both entrances as individual entities.
