Passa Architects worked very closely with the client to develop a design which met all of their specific requirements for this 19,250 sq. ft. office and warehouse facility. The building was designed to accommodate the projected future growth of the company and to provide a new corporate image for this rapidly growing petroleum products company. The prominent feature of the structure is the south facing vast expanse of a two-storey high curved glazed / metal wall where the office portion of the building is located which relates to the large oil storage tanks across the street. With the raised site, this glazing wall offers a dramatic view of these adjacent company facilities. A radiating office layout forms an open general office core connecting the design of the administration area with the south exposure. Interior glazing allows great amounts of daylight to reach the interior spaces of the building. Energy efficient light fixtures, a solar reflective roof and radiant in-floor heating add to the building’s energy efficiency. The warehouse area is complete with a recessed loading dock, viewing windows from the office areas, high clerestory windows for increased daylighting and locker/change room areas for warehouse staff. The exterior building design blends the two independent sections creating a linked facility rather than exposing the office and warehouse areas separately.
